This EXTENDO VENT is an extendable vent that you can literally detach from the wall and place somewhere else to redirect air. It has 2 modes:
The "default mode" allows it to function like any regular old vent. Just move the ball around to change the direction of the air
"extendo mode" can be activated by a simple twist. This disconnects the vent so you can place it anywhere within 10ft of the original vent location
All materials are made in the USA and can withstand high temperatures up to 250F.
The extendo-vent was originally invented to redirect the hot air from my diesel heater in my camper van to a cold corner. Realistically though, it will work for a variety of camper, rv, and marine applications (i.e. to use your diesel heater as an off-grid hair dryer). It's basically a way more functional version of the regular vents we've all been using!
INCLUDED IN KIT:
ball vent & mounting flange - made of high temp carbon-fiber-plastic
8 feet of collapsible ducting (3in inside diameter) - made of high temp collapsible ducting. Collapses down to fit inside the 2ft duct housing.
2 feet of duct housing (4in inside diameter) - made of high temp duct with smooth internal surface
4 stainless steel mounting screws
2 stainless steel hose clamps
Duct housing mount - made of carbon fiber plastic and stainless steel zip ties. Used to secure the extendo vent installation inside of a cabinet.
COMPATIBILITY:
Designed to replace any normal vent / ducting up to 3 inches
Can be mounted to any metal or wood surface (up to 1" thick)
Can replace any existing vent as long as you have 5"x5" of mounting space, and 4.5" of space for the duct to be routed.
Works with both low and high temperature applications (-40F to 250F)
Works particularly well for small diesel heaters such as Espar S2 and similar models.
determine the location you want to mount the vent, ensure 5in x 5in of surface space is available for mounting.
drill hole in center of mounting location with a 4inch hole saw bit.
Step 2: Mount the vent with mounting screws
temporarily place the vent flange inside of the 4inch hole and mark the 4 mounting holes with a sharpie
pre-drill mounting holes and then mount the vent flange with the included screws
Step 3: Connect the ducting
attach the duct housing to the back of the vent flange with large hose clamp (included). Do not over-tighten or you will crack the plastic. Duct housing should be very hard to pull off but not impossible.
insert the compressible duct & ball vent into the front of the mounted vent flange
attach the loose end of the compressible duct to the output side of wherever your air is coming from (i.e. diesel heater air output). Use (included) small hose clamp.
Step 4: Done!
Your extendo vent is ready to use! You can push the ball vent into the vent flange and twist to lock it in place.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If using with diesel heater, I recommend setting your heater to "low" mode before using the extendo-vent. Although it is designed to withstand the high temperature output of a diesel heater (up to 250F), it will be touching other things in your van that may not be rated to withstand high temperatures.
